Timeless decisions are choices you make that stand the test of time, where your future self would say, “If I had to do it over again — I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Here are three things to ask yourself in order to make a timeless decision:
Will this choice I make today cause me to be
- and / or a better person now and tomorrow?
Asking yourself this question makes you responsible for the decisions you make and act on. You take ownership of what you do in the present and accept the future consequences. When you make timeless decisions — such choices are rarely regretted.
No one makes perfect timeless decisions all the time so accept this and find self-compassion. The imperfections of life add unique detail and color to the tapestry of our lives making them more intricate and beautiful. With our individual choices we carve out our distinctive existence.
Anyway, who wants to make the right decision all the time? It’s a recipe for a boring and predictable life.
With that said, to live an ageless lifestyle you need to be making more timeless decisions — choices that support the healthy, happy, and enduring life you want than not.
To save yourself from a dull and conventional life, I do recommend posing another question that still supports the ‘timeless decision’ core value of your future self not regretting the action which is:
Will this choice I make today give me a fun adventure to remember and speak of in the future?
And you can qualify that choice as tales appropriate for ‘grand-kids-story-time’ or ‘class-reunion-roast-a-good friend’ get together! 😉
The timeless decisions you make need not be square or unoriginal. Participate and play — proactively take charge of how your life unfolds and co-create the life you always wanted.
Live a life that when remembered, brings you happiness, peace, and fulfillment.
Your DAY 1 challenge:
Ask yourself the following questions when it comes time to make a decision today and whenever you remember.
- Will this make me healthier?
- Will this make me happier?
- Will this make me a better person?
- Will this be fun?
Then decide if you want to make a timeless decision — a choice that supports your well-being and where your future self would give you a high-five and say, “Thank you! Good job younger self!” 😉
I started the challenge with teaching you about “timeless decisions” because in the next few weeks you’re going to be presented with some choices. With each lesson I will offer my advice and you must ask yourself the important “questions” and then act accordingly. In the end, you’re the hero (she-ro) of your life-story — you make the call.
By the way, I support the 80/20 effort on all things and my timeless life decision ratio is not exempt. This silly picture displays how I make decisions…
