Day 5: Reclaim Your Beauty Sleep for Mind, Body, and Soul

Welcome to my 14 Day Ageless Lifestyle Makeover Challenge series!

The purpose of the challenge was to inspire you to make easy changes that would create more health, vibrancy, confidence, and timelessness in your life.  It covered food, skin care, fashion style, fitness, and so much more! Each day touched on a topic that helped you be your best at any age.

Here are the 14 days worth of lessons:

The winner of the drawing has been chosen and notified. Thank you to everyone who participated. If you’re just discovering this challenge now—do it on you own and reap the benefits of a more ageless lifestyle!

Beauty sleep is not just for looks; though there is truth in the words — the benefits of a restful night sleep also extend to your mind, body, and spirit.

Get beauty sleep for a beautiful mind — by this I mean clear and sharp!

Unhurried sleep and relaxation are necessary to have a healthy brain. It helps support a memory and cognitive function. Whereas lack of sleep impairs reasoning, problem-solving, and dumbs you down.

A study on mice showed that during sleep the brain releases toxins that accumulate during the day. The University of Rochester Medical center found that cerebrospinal fluid — a liquid that covers the brain and spine — may help remove brain toxins through a series of channels that expand during sleep. They believe this system of clearing can dissipate beta-amyloid a protein toxin that amasses in the brains of people with Alzheimer. Another study has shown that lack of sleep may shrink the brain and worsens as you age.

Get beauty sleep for a beautiful body – by this I mean rested and ready for action!

During sleep is when your body truly relaxes. Your breathing calms, heart rate slows, blood pressure drops, and muscles relax. In this state, the body restores and reenergizes itself. This is the optimal time for the body to repair tissues and cells helping you stay healthy and ageless.

Conversely, being deprived of sleep may lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, weight gain, and a weakened physical state. Lack of sleep will take away the body’s essential healing time which unchecked will wreak havoc on everything from body function to body appearance hastening the aging process.

Get beauty sleep for your soul – by this I mean awakened and connected!

It is my belief that during deep sleep — when you are able to dream — you become connected to higher spiritual states. Through your dreams subconscious thoughts play out, other worlds come alive, and you become aware of hidden understanding – wisdom not available to you when you’re awake.

For intuitive women — or women who wish to become more intuitive — the dream/sleep state is a great way to develop this skill. I have found that awareness in your dreams leads to awareness in your reality. (All good stuff to help you be a she-ro sister!)

Your DAY 5 Challenge:

Try to increase your beauty sleep!

Each person is slightly different when it comes to how many hours they need to get a good night sleep. One way to gauge if you are getting enough sleep is to monitor your energy levels when you wake. Are you tired or do you feel energized? Also, how do you look – is your skin bright and looking well-rested? Or do your eyes look red and skin look pallid? The answers to these questions will let you know if you need more sleep.

If you find that you need to reclaim your beauty sleep then fix your sleep cycle so that you can have more restful sleep. Create a sleep schedule that blocks out time where you will make an effort to sleep more.

For example, if you’re only getting 5 hours of sleep, schedule yourself to go to bed earlier and try to get 5 ½. Do that for a few days, then go to bed a little earlier again and try for 6 hours. Each day check in with yourself — do you feel better? If so, then maintain those hours or try for even more sleep and see how much better you feel. Remember — YOU ARE THE SCIENTIST OF YOU!

You may also try…

  • A warm shower or bath before bed to relax the mind and body for a more restful sleep.
  • Lavender oil mixed with olive oil or almond oil helps to calm the body and senses.
  • Deep focused breathing while laying down helps to relax the mind and muscles.
  • Self-massage with a ball or foam roller increases blood flow and releases muscle tension helping you to be more relaxed.

Day 4: Top 10 Foods for Health and Longevity

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” ~ Hippocrates

The best way to keep your ageless body and lifestyle is to not get weak, ill, and stagnant (something we’ll talk more about later in the challenge.)  Prevention is the key to staving off many old-age issues. One way to prevent illness and disease is to eat organic whole foods. It will give you the nutrients you need to keep up your strength and vigor so that you can live your best life — at any age!

Your DAY 4 Challenge:

Add a few of these foods in your diet. Pick one to at least eat once a day. Mix some together for a super-food packed meal!

1. Organic pasture-raised eggs

Eggs have cholesterol, but studies have shown they almost do nothing to raise your cholesterol. With out a doubt egg whites are a great source of protein, but even better, egg yolks have amino acids (tryptophan and tyrosine) and potent antioxidants (lutein and zeaxathin) that  prevent cardiovascular disease, cancer, and age-related sicknesses. The amino acids also help regulate mood, alertness, and brain activity.

All eggs are not created equal and studies have shown that although eggs in general are good for you, organic pasture-raised eggs are better. They have less fat, cholesterol,  2x more omega-3 fatty acids, 3x more vitamin E, and 7x more beta carotene. Ideally, organic pasture-raised eggs would be consumed raw to derive the most nutrients, but cooking eggs with a runny yolk is the next best thing.

2. Wild Alaskan salmon

If you find a verified source of wild Alaskan salmon then gobble up this high-quality protein! It’s full of good omega-3 fats DHA and EPA. DHA helps with brain and vision health while EPA aids in your immune system and heart health.

(docosahexaenoic acid)and EPA.

3. Organic grass-fed (beef) or pasture-raised (chicken) organ meats

Organ meat is an outstanding source of lipoic acid, an essential enzyme that helps many body functions such as balancing circadian rhythms and brain activity. It’s a good source of protein to rebuild tissues, omega fats for mood and age-related diseases, choline for brain and nerve function, CoQ10 for energy production and heart function, and Vitamin E for tissue repair and free radical damage.

4. Organic avocado

Avocados are nutrient dense and contain about 20 vitamins and minerals to support a healthy body. It’s a great source of vitamins C and E for tissue repair and immunity.   Avocados has many of the B vitamins such B-6, riboflavin (B-2), niacin (B-3), folate (B-9), pantothenic acid (B-5) to support metabolic functions and nervous system.  It also has magnesium,  potassium, lutein, beta-carotene and omega-3s.

5. Organic raw almonds

Raw and organic are the key terms when eating almonds (or any nuts) so that you are not consuming the unhealthy fats used to prepare them and any pesticides. Organic raw almonds are rich in phytochemicals helping heart and vascular health. They are a good source of Vitamin E, an antioxidant to fight free radical damage.

Almonds are a source of protein for cell repair, fiber for healthy digestion, iron for blood and oxygen, and calcium for bone and teeth health. It also provides magnesium needed for many body functions such as protein synthesis and tissue repair helping build muscle and others fibers in the body.

6. Organic coconut oil

Coconut oil is bar-none one of the best ways to boost your immune system. When you ingest coconut oil you are providing your body with essential nutrients such as a healthy source of saturated fat and lauric acid, the most important essential fatty acid in building and maintaining a healthy immune system.

7. Organic grass-fed butter

Butter is rich in vitamins, minerals (including iodine), and fatty acids that help boost your immune system and promote good health. Grass-fed butter has conjugated linoleic acid, a compound that helps fight cancer and aids your body in storing muscle rather than fat.

Butter has good cholesterol which helps with brain, intestinal, and nervous system function. Only present in raw butter and cream, a benefit called the Wulzen Factor helps in preventing arthritis and joint stiffness.

8. Organic wild blueberries

Organic wild blueberries are filled with vitamins, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. In particular, the phytonutrients inherent in blueberries help stave off cancer and age-related diseases. Studies have shown that blueberries protect against age-related deficits in memory and cognitive function.

The vitamin C and antioxidants in blueberries aid in everything from fighting off a cold, supporting immune health, counteracting free-radical damage, to helping your eyes, hair and skin to be their healthiest. It’s good to mention that organic cultivated blueberries have about half the antioxidants of organic wild blueberries.

9. Organic kale

Kale is a great source of Vitamin A — good for vision, immune system, and cell growth. Vitamin B, which supports many body functions and energy production. Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that helps with tissue repair, strengthens immune system, and  prevents heart disease.

Kale has calcium for strong bones. It has lutein and zeaxanthin for vision health helping prevent age-related macular degeneration. It’s a good source of iron which you need for healthy blood cells to help you get oxygen so you have the energy to be active.

10. Organic sweet potato

Sweet potato is rich in Vitamin A to support immunity,  cell growth, and cellular communication.  Vitamin A is an essential part in maintaining vision health. Sweet potatoes are a great source of potassium crucial to heart and kidney health. It also has dietary fiber which helps to control blood sugar levels, lower cholesterol, and keep you regular!

Enjoy these foods often so you can have better health and increased longevity. When sitting down to order at a restaurant or when you are grocery shopping for dinner — make a timeless decision —  choose foods that support your ageless lifestyle mama!

Day 3: What to Eat for an Ageless Body

An ageless body enjoys optimal health — it moves with ease, is free of chronic pain and disease, and has vibrant energy.

So what does a person with an ageless body eat?

The bullet-point answer is:

  • Organic, grass-fed, pasture-raised meats and wild caught fish
  • Organic vegetables (non-starchy)
  • Organic potatoes and other roots (starchy)
  • Organic nuts & seeds
  • Organic fruits
  • Organic fermented foods

The longer answer is that each persons “ageless body” diet will be slightly different. The difference will mostly be in the ratio of meat to vegetables. Some people will prefer more vegetables and others will want more meat and fat in their diet. No matter which your body prefers — the main staple of an ageless body diet is organic whole foods and that a person interested in having this kind of body tries to eat this way 80% of the time.

I emphasize “organic” foods specifically because non-organic foods have been sprayed with pesticides and might be genetically modified (GMO’s) and such foods may contribute to illness and disease.

The ageless body moves with ease.

As we age, the integrity of our joints, bones, and muscles deteriorate. Movement and exercise helps to stave off the decline, but food also plays a large role in maintaining our ability to move well. The vitamins and nutrients in whole foods support joint, bone, and muscle health. Some foods such as organ meats and bone broth are super-foods to these areas of the body — helping repair tissues so that the body can move with ease.

The ageless body is free of chronic pain and disease.

Prevention is the key to an ageless body. The right foods can aid in boosting the body’s immune system so that it’s able to fight sickness and disease. While some foods help with cell repair, there are foods that decrease inflammation in the body thwarting illness and chronic pain.

An ageless body has vibrant energy.

While restful sleep is the foundation that replenishes the energy system of an ageless body, eating the right foods at the appropriate time will help maintain its energy throughout the day. Intermittent fasting will also support balanced energy levels.

Your DAY 3 Challenge:

Observe what you eat throughout the day and ask yourself if it supports your ageless body.

  • Are the foods you’re consuming nutrient dense so that it can help repair your joints, bones, tissues, and cells?
  • Determine if the foods you’re eating cause inflammation or are anti-inflammatory.
  • Gauge your energy levels and decide if the foods you’re ingesting are providing you with the right amount of energy you need.

If what you find is that most of the food you eat don’t support an ageless body decide if you want to make some changes. Use the timeless decision making process you learn on DAY 1.

If you find that majority of what you eat does support your ageless body — then check this lesson off as complete mama!

Today’s exercise asks you again to be the scientist of YOU. Observe your actions (what you eat) and reactions (how your body responds to food) and then decide to change — make better — what you can.

An ageless body doesn’t happen overnight. It is the result of timeless decisions — choosing actions that promote health and wellness more often than not. (Apply the 80/20 rule sister!)

Day 2: How to have Ageless Glowing Skin

Ageless glowing skin will look  different on everyone, but it will have one thing in common – it will look healthy.

I’ve written similar posts in the past where I share what I do to have glowing skin, etc. and it was received well. This time I want to empower you to find your own skin care regiment. A skin care system that works for your skin type and lifestyle. (If you really want to know what I do click here for a quick break down.)

To become empowered, you first have to become informed.

In this case, before you can improve your skin health — and I mean create real change within the body so you practically glow outside without the aid of fake sparkly cream — you need to know what’s happening with your skin right now.

I want you to become the scientist and your body be your research project.

Your goal is to find out what is going on with your skin so that you can create a skin-care system that supports its health and beauty.

Your DAY 2 challenge:

Gather information about the state of your skin and the things — environment, food, stress level — to name a few that are affecting its look and health and then go about ‘testing’ remedies until you find the one that works for YOU.

This exercise will take longer than a day , so you have the next 21 days to figure it out. Come back to this post when you’ve made some ‘findings’ and let us know how you’re doing ma!

1. Take stock of how your skin looks today.

Describe what your skin looks like and how it feels. Like all good scientists, write your observations so you have something to compare to later.

For example:

  • Face: feels rough around the jaw and ear area, is oily on the nose and chin, break outs around the chin area, dry and wrinkly in eye area, wrinkly and dry in forehead area
  • Neck & Chest: feels smooth mostly, sun spots on chest, slightly oily
  • Arms: bumps on the back of the arms, reddish coloring, feels dry
  • Legs: feels dry and scaly, looks dull

You can be as detailed as you want. Pay close attention to the things you want to make better. Take pictures of your current skin state so that you have a starting point and images to refer back to when you’re doing your ‘testing’. As any good scientist will tell you — we want observable and measurable change so that we can make real conclusions.

2. Write down your current skin care regiment.

What do you do for your skin from morning to night. Note the products you use and how your skin feels right after using it, and then how it feels a few hours later.

For example:

  • After I wash my face with A, it feels very dry, but then I put moisturizer B and it feels OK. In the afternoon, my skin feels very dry again in some areas like my eyes, but oily in others like my nose. My body lotion C feels good, but I notice I always have to reapply and still have dry patches.

3. Observe your environment.

Your surroundings — the air quality, weather, pollution, dust, and even lighting — can affect the quality of your skin making it dull, dry, and acne prone.

Example observations:

  • When it’s below 50 degrees outside my skin gets very rough and dry.
  • I notice more sunspots accrue on my hands, chest, and face in the summer months.
  • When I’m around dust and it accidentally goes on my skin I notice I get bumps.
  • I notice I get bumps on my face when I’m around 2nd hand smoke.
  • After a full day of work under fluorescent lighting and my computer I notice my skin extra dry, especially on my hands.

4. Log your food and liquid intake.

What you ingest plays a LARGE role on your skin, hair, nails, and even in the whites of your eyes appearance.  The following exercise is part of the intuitive eating method I teach my life-coaching clients so that they can create a healthy body from the inside out. This method will help you figure out what is going on with your skin so you can make better choices for its health.

For the moment, don’t make any changes to your diet. Just write what you normally eat and drink.

Example things to look for:

  • Do you notice any skin allergies after you eat a particular type of food?
  • Do you notice any itching, bumps, acne, or dry patches on your skin after eating a certain food?
  • Does your skin look drier or more supple after you drink certain liquids such as coffee, energy drinks, sports drinks, alcohol, and water?
  • Ask your intuition — do you think certain foods affect your skin? What are they?

For example too much sugar in your diet makes your body and skin age faster through a process called Advanced Glycation End Products (AGES). =(

5. Track your activity level.

The amount of movement you do, muscle you have, and even how your sweat mingles with the natural oils on your skin affect its health and look. Movement such as walking or any exercise increases blood flow bringing nutrients, oxygen, and aids in the removal of waste in your organs and whole body. The skin is your largest organ, ergo more “moving” equals better skin health.

The amount of muscle you have in your body will affect how your skin looks — if it’s taut or saggy. Sweating helps with skin moisture, increases acid mantle (coating on your skin that prevents bacteria and fungi from growing), and removal of toxins helping your skin to be clear and healthy.

Write down when you exercise or move for long periods. (This is a good  idea for your health in general!)

Example things to look for:

  • How does your skin look before and after exercise?
  • Do you notice if you have breakouts if you don’t shower right away after exercise?
  • Do you feel like you don’t move enough and it contributes to poor blood circulation and dull skin?
  • Do you feel like you move too much and your skin looks older than it should? (Too much exercise can make skin look old and dry from dehydration and increased free radical creation causing premature aging)
  • Do you feel like if you had more muscle in your body your skin would look better?

Write down these observations — take pictures too — so that when we carry out the “testing” phase you will see the difference.

6. Write down your mental state and stress levels.

What goes on inside your head affects your whole body. From your brain activating its fight or flight response to constantly thinking negative thoughts — all these actions affect your hormone levels, metabolism, and other bodily functions which not only can upset your health, but also influence your skins look and feel.

Example things to observe:

  • Do you notice your skin dryer when you are stressed?
  • Do you notice your skin break out more when you’re under pressure?
  • What do you mentally focus on about your skin? Do you always see its imperfections?
  • How do you feel about your skin in general?

7. Log your sleep cycle.

The amount of sleep you get is directly related to how good your skin looks. A good night sleep not only prevents under-eye bags, it also helps the body repair muscle, cells, and normalize body functions so that you can be healthy, strong, and awake to enjoy your ageless lifestyle.

Things to note:

  • How much sleep do you get?
  • Is your sleep restful?
  • Do you notice changes in your skin when you don’t get enough sleep versus when you get more?
  • Do you feel like you get enough sleep?

The answers to all these questions will lead you to create a skin-care regiment that gives you the ageless glowing skin that is all your own.

When you know the problem and contributing factors, then you can make changes in your life to fix them. After you’ve done the research part, then it will be time to do the “testing” phase—finding out what works and what doesn’t!

The “Testing” Phase

  • Slowly start replacing your beauty products. I recommend opting for more natural, organic, and toxic chemical free solutions. Observe and note how your skin reacts to each product for a few days and eliminate what doesn’t work.
  • You figured out how your environment affects your skin so start implementing solutions such as using lotion or oils that create more moisture for your skin during the winter months, wearing more protection on hot days, or making an effort to stay away from pollutants. When it comes to our environment, many times we don’t have a choice, but we can do things to help ourselves get through them.
  • From your research you became aware how certain foods and liquids affected your skin. Begin to cut or limit certain food & drink and see how your skin adapts. Start adding certain foods and liquids that promote skin health and hydration and then see how your skin changes. Keep doing what works.
  • Logging your activity gave you insight on how much you move and how your body responds. Add to your movement regiment — more walking, some moderate weight lifting, and stretching — and see how your skin reacts.
  • From your notes, you probably have a better understanding of how your mental state and stress levels impact your skin health. Look for ways to decrease stress and boost your self-esteem. Self-talk — what you believe and say to yourself — plays a big role in your skin and general appearance. (Your body listens to your mind sister!)
  • Improve your sleeping habits. The amount of sleep-hours  needed will be different for everyone, but the key to knowing your perfect number is that upon waking you FEEL and LOOK rested. If you wake and feel sluggish, look dry and haggard, then you need more sleep. Lack of sleep over works your organs and body systems which ages your whole body prematurely.  Find ways to get more rest and relaxation so that your body — and skin — will feel rejuvenated.

This phase is filled with trial and error, but like all good scientists — you are eager to get to the truth — so keep at it!

In DAY 2 I shared with you what it takes to get ageless glowing skin. Moreover, I taught you how to create a holistic skin care regiment. I know it’s a lot.

But here is a dose of reality, no matter what skin care lotion you use, it will not fix the outside look of your skin if what’s going on inside — your metabolism, mental state, and hormone levels, just to name a few — are messed up.

It’s like using a band-aid to fix a broken arm. You have to deal with the core issues and fix them to get the best outcome you desire.

Anyhow, there are a few more things to consider when caring for your skin health, but this should give you a good place to start. Good luck with your beautiful research project – YOU!

Day 1: How to Make Timeless Decisions

Timeless decisions are choices you make that stand the test of time, where your future self would say, “If I had to do it over again — I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Here are three things to ask yourself in order to make a timeless decision:

Will this choice I make today cause me to be

  • healthier,
  • happier,
  • and / or a better person now and tomorrow?

Asking yourself this question makes you responsible for the decisions you make and act on. You take ownership of what you do in the present and accept the future consequences. When you make timeless decisions — such choices are rarely regretted.

No one makes perfect timeless decisions all the time so accept this and find self-compassion. The imperfections of life add unique detail and color to the tapestry of our lives making them more intricate and beautiful. With our individual choices we carve out our distinctive existence.

Anyway, who wants to make the right decision all the time? It’s a recipe for a boring and predictable life.

With that said, to live an ageless lifestyle you need to be making more timeless decisions — choices that support the healthy, happy, and enduring life you want than not.

To save yourself from a dull and conventional life, I do recommend posing another question that still supports the ‘timeless decision’ core value of your future self not regretting the action which is:

Will this choice I make today give me a fun adventure to remember and speak of in the future?

And you can qualify that choice as tales appropriate for ‘grand-kids-story-time’ or ‘class-reunion-roast-a-good friend’ get together! 😉

The timeless decisions you make need not be square or unoriginal. Participate and play — proactively take charge of how your life unfolds and co-create the life you always wanted.

Live a life that when remembered, brings you happiness, peace, and fulfillment.

Your DAY 1 challenge:

Ask yourself the following questions when it comes time to make a decision today and whenever you remember.

  • Will this make me healthier?
  • Will this make me happier?
  • Will this make me a better person?
  • Will this be fun?

Then decide if you want to make a timeless decision — a choice that supports your well-being and where your future self would give you a high-five and say, “Thank you! Good job younger self!” 😉

I started the challenge with teaching you about “timeless decisions” because in the next few weeks you’re going to be presented with some choices. With each lesson I will offer my advice and you must ask yourself the important “questions” and then act accordingly. In the end, you’re the hero (she-ro) of your life-story — you make the call.

By the way, I support the 80/20 effort on all things and my timeless life decision ratio is not exempt. This silly picture displays how I make decisions…

14 Day Ageless Lifestyle Makeover Challenge

Last week I wrote about the 10 signs that show if you have a mindset that supports an ageless lifestyle. Did you relate with some of those ideas as something you regularly think about and do? If not — and you want to be more ageless — participate in my 14 Day Ageless Lifestyle Makeover Challenge!

The purpose of the challenge is to inspire you to make easy changes that create more health, vibrancy, confidence, and timelessness in your life.  It will cover food, skin care, fashion style, fitness, and so much more! Each day will touch on a topic that will help you be your best at any age.

An ageless lifestyle is about possessing optimal health, mind-body-spirit coherence, and exuding a timeless way of being.

Sister, if you’re reading this blog then I’m assuming you’re interested in this kind of life — where you feel amazing at any age!  This is an admirable goal because your body is no less than the temple where your soul resides and so it stands to reason that you should take care of your body as best as you can.

Lots of women are used to putting everything else before themselves;  this is also admirable. Women are the great givers and nurturers. But let’s be real, if all this “giving and nurturing” is done in sacrifice of our own health and happiness then we’ve really shortchanged ourselves. (We deserve to feel good too!)

Just like in an airplane emergency, they ask that you put on your air-mask first before you help others (because it’s easier to be helpful when you can breathe), prioritize your health and wellbeing — put yourself first in this regard — be strong, healthy, and happy and see how much more helpful you can be to everyone and everything you love.

Participating in the challenge will be easy.

All you have to do is check my blog daily during the 14 days (preferably in the morning so you have all day to do the exercise if you want).  If you like the topic and my advice, do the challenge and incorporate some of the ideas into your own life.

There’s a prize!

Day 7, Rise Above Problems

Welcome to Day 7!

Faerie card:: Rise Above Problems

To rise above our problems is to mentally and spiritually say, “I can and will overcome.”

The fairies say, to rise above problems is to have faith that you will solve whatever it is—even if you don’t have a clue at how it will be done. You must only have a “knowing” and the solutions will come about.

This kind of confidence takes time to build. (Even with fairies on your side.)

How do you develop a “knowing”?

By trusting your higher consciousness.

Your high-self knows more than you can imagine. In fact, the guidance you seek from books, sages, and spiritual centers is already within you. You only need to seek the God within to tap into that knowledge.

Your higher consciousness will guide you to the answers you need to solve any and every problem you will ever face in life.

Your challenge today is to seek out your higher consciousness for council on a problem you’re facing.

Ask sincerely for guidance and solutions at whatever distresses you.

If you’ve never asked your higher consciousness for advice, here is one method I use to begin the conversation.

Put out a thought intention for help.

For example, a person who had problems at work, who wanted to change jobs, or make more money might send a thought intention that goes something like this…

“My intention is to feel more fulfilled with the work I do. I would love to be more creative, feel useful, and increase my income. I am open to change. I ask for guidance and clear signs as to what I should be doing. Thank you.”

Then look, listen, and act quickly when your high-self speaks!

Miracle Message #22: Lose the Stage Fright

Stage fright can show up in our lives in different ways. Of course, there is the usual panic that comes with having to speak in public, give a toast, or any situation where we need to be vocal with our thoughts and feelings.

But can you imagine being afraid to talk to yourself? To ask guidance from yourself?

Why would anyone be scared to ask themselves for guidance?

It’s because they don’t trust themselves. They don’t believe they have the knowledge to guide themselves out of a situation or know the right thing to do.

It is not uncommon for people to mistrust their own instincts.

There are many ways to develop self-trust—to have that “knowing”so you can believe in your own thoughts and guidance. I guide my clients through this very obstacle.

One way I recommend them to overcome this limiting belief is to do EFT(emotional freedom techniques) on themselves.

EFT, also known as tapping is a great way to release fears and limiting beliefs such as being unable to trust your own thoughts.

Tapping on your meridian points, where your energy—life force—flows can help heal these very fears.

Gabby offers a tapping technique in her book, Miracles Now just for this fear of stage fright.

“Apply medium pressure to the back of your forearm (either arm works!) approximately three inches from the back of the wrist. Hold the pressure for one to three minutes. This one-minute miracle can help you release stag e fright and guide you to establish a new emotional pattern.”

Watch me teach EFT to 5th Graders and learn this valuable life-tool.

Faerie Card:: Honoring Your True Feelings

Honoring our true feelings is a way to practice self-love.

This fairy card reveals that we need to acknowledge our emotions. That we have the right to feel our feelings, that they are valid for us, and that each feeling—good or bad—has its place and effect on our growth.

To “feel the feelings” is an important process in the pursuit of an ageless lifestyle. The effect of feelings on our lives is substantial—our feelings is what drives us to change, do better, and move forward.

Our feelings can also be what holds us back and keeps us repeating the same lessons.

At times, we can think that we have no feelings at all—that we are numb. It is not unusual to exist  disconnected and detached from our feelings.

The irony in not being able to “feel the feelings” is that our body is one “big feeling”organ.

Our body is constantly feeling, from the wind on its face to the steady or elevated beat of  our heart. The question is—why are some feelings blocked or seem to not register in our brain? As if we pressed the mute button.

Of course there are many reasons for this, but for our challenge, we will focus on one factor that may be preventing a person from feeling their true feelings.

One issue can be lack of awareness.

Awareness is the quality of being where you are wholly present, in harmony, and connected to yourself—your higher consciousness.

To live in constant awareness is a life-long practice. Some days will be better than others. The more you find yourself in the state of awareness, the more your life will feel blessed,  effortless, and timeless.

Your challenge today is to try to practice awareness for the next 24 hours.

Then write down in your journal or ponder how your day was affected by this practice.

  • Did you feel more?
  • Were you happier?
  • How was your focus?
  • Were you in flow?

Miracle Message #43: I choose peace instead of this.

You are the driving force that makes things happen. Your thoughts and actions propel your reality. Choose love over fear. Choose peace over anger.

Choose to be the light above all things.

Along with your awareness challenge today, when you feel any “other” feelings that are not peace, joy, love, and light—choose to have a more positive feeling.

As Gabby says, “I choose peace instead of this.”

Welcome to Day 5!

Faerie Card:: Higher Consciousness

This card is drawn to affirm that the path we’ve chosen for ourselves is the correct one.

All our thoughts, feelings, visualizations, dreams, and actions that we’ve experienced has been in the name of spirit. When we ask ourselves for help—to cultivate more self-love, awareness, connection, abundance, and happiness—we are guided by our higher consciousness.

When we listen and follow through on the guidance from our high-self, we are in a state of “spirit-living.”

Spirit-living is a way of being where you feel connected, loved, supported, inspired, fulfilled, and are in harmony with the universe and beyond.

When you live through spirit you are in flow. Life becomes easier, things come together for you, and you are able to manifest a happier and abundant reality for yourself.

Through spirit-living, you create an ageless lifestyle.  A life where you are at ease, accepting, loving, peaceful, and joyful. You have an air of timelessness and holiness about you.

We are all holy.

Our higher consciousness is proof that we are holy.

The more we listen to our higher consciousness the more our holy is manifested in our reality.

Our holiness comes out as the unconditional love, understanding, and compassion we show to all things. It resonates through our actions of good and purposeful living. It is detected in the light of our eyes, our aura, and in the frequency we emit.

It is acknowledging our holiness that gives us real grace, confidence, and peace to live a good life.

Your challenge today is to let your holiness be exposed.

  • Show someone unconditional love.
  • Practice understanding and acceptance of a difficult situation.
  • Give compassion to someone who needs it now.
  • Do something good for someone.
  • Decide to follow your divine purpose.

Miracle Message #71: Rest, Relax, Restore

During sleep is when the body re-energizes, repairs, and ideally calibrates to a healthier state of being.

Sleep is also a way to tap into your higher consciousness.

Restful sleep is a meditation. When asleep your mind chatter can be subdued and you  are able to converse with your higher-self more easily. Try this tonight…

As you lay down to sleep, create a thought intention to ask for guidance, be revealed any important information, or to simply feel connected with your spirit self.

When you wake the next morning, try not to jump out of bed quickly. Instead, lay in bed, in that “half-asleep” state and listen or feel for any deeper understanding. The more you try to do this, the better you will get at interacting with your higher-self.

Gabby also offers a meditation in her book called Yoga Nidra which you can find here. It will help you feel rested which will improve your sleep quality and enhance your ability to commune with your higher consciousness.

Day 7, Rise Above Problems

Welcome to Day 4!

Time to check in before we begin 😉 Did you spend time in nature?

Did you ring up your wonder-twin and spend time outside eliminating your positive charge and replenishing your electrons?!  (Huh? If I’m not making sense then you didn’t read Day 3. The post all about “earthing!”)

If you do know what I mean, then be one with the force—in harmony with earth’s negative charge—and get grounded! (Evrrrrrryday!)

Faerie Card:: Visualization

Today’s fairy card tells us that we are magical creatures with super powers. (The Woo-Woo Chronicles)

OK. Not to be too silly so you guys don’t unsubscribe, permit me to explain.

What you see inside your head—your visualizations—can transpire in your reality.

This is how the material is formed.

Take any example, a light-bulb or cell-phone, it was once someones visual idea that came to fruition.

A painter, sculptor, or any artist will tell you that they see their work in their minds-eye before they are able to fully create in its physical form.

You have the same ability. You only need to trust that you have it and then nurture the skill to wield it.

Repeat this affirmation to yourself periodically,

“It is safe for me to see. I am a visual person.” – Doreen Virtue, Healing with the Fairies Oracle Cards

Your challenge today is to visualize something you truly desire.

It can be a material thing. But also, it can be a way of being.

For example, I always visualize myself relaxing on a chaise lounge, reading, writing, and even seeing myself actually doing “work” but still in this tranquil, stress-free environment. And guess what? That is the way of life I have created for myself.

Think of visualizations as the spec sheet or blue print of a future reality.

Imagine the life you want in your head, live like that is your lifestyle, then watch it unfold for real before your very eyes.

The “Fake it till you make it” motto is a real and effective way of getting what you want in life. Just ask Audrey,

“All my life I’ve been in situations where I’ve had no technique, but if you feel enough, you can get away with murder.” ~ Audrey Hepburn

Help yourself.

See it, feel it, work on “it” whatever that is for you like an artist—with passion and vigor—and then live it until your dream is realized.

If an ageless lifestyle is what want, see yourself doing youthful activities and being vibrant. Visualize yourself looking unchanged and feeling luminous. Glimpse yourself a reality where life for you is restful, stress-free, and joyful so that you age gracefully.

What you think and see in your mind will be your reality. Think good thoughts now, follow it up with concerted action, and your future self will thank you for it!

Miracle Message #21: Medidate for a Date

MediDate is spelled correctly. 😉

It is a term coined by Gabby for healing and attracting romantic love in your life. Again, awesome guidance from Miracles Now!

Basically, we are being guided to visualize and meditate on creating more romantic love in our lives! (Hubba, hubba!)

Gabby has 3 types of meditations which you can learn by clicking here.

Here is a simple meditation that combines the power of visualization and your heart space.

  • Begin in a easy seated pose.
  • Place both hands on your heart.
  • Observe 3 belly-breath cycles. Belly rise. Belly fall.
  • Say thank you in your mind for the wonderful things in your life.
  • Name as many as you can until you feel good, calm, and joyful.
  • Now, begin visualizing a romantic evening with your loved one or soon to be lover.
  • Spend time creating the images in your mind– try to imagine as many details.
  • As you see your love before you, feel good, happy, and loved.
  • Know that in some reality- this is happening now. And feel confident that soon, you will experience it for yourself.
  • Finish with observing your breath for 3 more cycles.
  • Then say thank you.
